Indulgences: From 12 noon on the 1st Nov. until midnight on 2nd Nov., anyone who visits a Church, goes to confession the week before or after 1st Nov., receives Holy Communion and prays for the Pope’s intentions can gain one plenary indulgence for the souls of the departed. From the 1st Nov. to the 8th Nov. anyone who visits a cemetery and prays for the dead can gain a plenary indulgence for the Holy Souls. The above conditions apply for this.
November Altar List: It is hoped to have these envelopes next week-end. In the meantime please use your own paper and envelope for the names of your dead and leave them in either Church.

Abbeylara Parish Centre Fundraiser Night: – Takes place on Sunday 30th Oct. in the Park House, Edgeworthstown. A great night’s entertainment is lined up. (See local papers and posters for details). Raffle on the night. 1st prize – Farm Quad. 2nd prize – Weekend away for 2. 3rd Prize – Barrel of oil. Please return your ticket counterfoils with money to Pat McHugh, Carra or Farrell’s Shop, Abbeylara before the function. Also spot prizes, refreshments served. Doors open at 9pm. Starting at 10pm. Adm €10. All proceeds to Abbeylara Parish Centre. Your support would be much appreciated. Ladies are kindly requested to make sandwiches and bake some cakes, tarts, buns, scones etc. Also spot prizes needed please. Prize for best dressed Halloween couple.
Fr. John C. Drumgoole: The next prayer and information gathering takes place on Tue 1st Nov in Abbeylara Church after the 7.30pm Mass. The Rosary is recited and the Be3atification prayer is said to advance his cause for Beatification. Anyone with information about Fr. John C. Drumgoole can share it after the prayers please.
Carra Graveyard: Weather permitting a last effort will be made this week to cut the grass and implement a general tidy up. Your help would be appreciated.
Northern Gaels: – Hold a collection at Masses on Sat. 29th Sun. 30th Oct. Please support as generously as possible.
Granard Region Annual Pioneer Dinner Dance: Takes place on Fri 4th Nov. in the Piker’s Lodge, Gowna. Dinner at 9pm. Music by Mary O’Connor. Tickets available from Brigie Burns 6686696.
First Friday: Fri 4th Nov. is the First Friday. The sick & housebound will be attended as usual. Confessions on Friday 4th Nov. in Abbeylara at 7p.m. followed y the First Friday Mass at 7.30p.m
Fatima First Saturday Mass: Takes place on Sat. 5th Nov in St. Mary’s Church, Carra at 11a.m. with Confessions beforeMass.
Abbeylara Rural Enhancement: Meeting held on Thur night last in the Sports Complex. All the information is being compiled at the moment photographs and information of a historical nature will all go to the make up and ultimate enhancement of our parish as put forward by the enhancement group. Next meeting will be Thurs 3rd Nov at 8.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
