On All Souls Day: A plenary indulgence for the holy souls may be gained once between noon on 1 November and midnight on 2 November, by visiting a Church or oratory and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostles’ Creed. The person making this prayer must:
Have recently received the Sacrament of Confession.
Have received Holy Communion.
Have prayed for the Pope’s intentions: one Our Father and one Hail Mary, or any other prayer of one’s choice.

On any day between 1^st and 8^th November, a plenary indulgence for the holy souls may be gained once each day, by visiting a cemetery and praying for the dead. The same conditions as above (confession, communion and prayer for the pope’s intentions) are also required.

Eusebius and the Liberian catalogue list his episcopate as having lasted five years (217–222). In 217, when Callixtus followed Zephyrinus as Bishop of Rome, he started to admit into the Church converts from sects or schisms. He was killed for being Christian and is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church (the patron saint of cemetery workers)

Relics of St. Bernadette of Lourdes: Next month the Relics of St Bernadette of Lourdes will be taken to Ireland to visit each diocese. In our own diocese the relics will be in St Mel’s Cathedral on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September. The purpose of this visit is to; Bring Lourdes to the Faithful. In other words, to help those who may not be able to travel to Lourdes themselves, to share in some of the atmosphere of prayer and consolation that pilgrims experience, while they are there.
From our own diocese a number of groups have close links with Lourdes, this will be an opportunity again to gather together and join in the Message of St Bernadette.

Abbeylara Handball Club Centenary Celebration. The John Carthy 1 Wall Tournament will take place on Sat/Sun, 31st August- 1st September. Inviting all past members, players and friends to attend the celebrations.
